Job description
Martin Marietta is now hiring Ready Mix Mobile Mechanics.

As the Mobile Mechanic you will be responsible for performing top level repairs on mobile equipment, including ready mix trucks, front end loaders, tractors, bulk trailers, and aggregate trailers. You will be under the immediate direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Leadperson.

Education requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or related mechanical/technical certification preferred.
Experience requirements
• Minimum 2 years of mobile equipment maintenance experience. Ready Mix maintenance experience is preferred.
Qualifications
• Must possess a CDL and safe driving record.
• Knowledge of repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines and other automotive systems to perform repair work.
Responsibilities
• Observe and listen to truck in operation to determine malfunctions.
• Read manuals and use hand tools and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance to electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines, and other automotive systems to perform repair work.
• Replace rollers and other wear items as required.
• Perform welding, repair, and fabrication.
• Assist drivers in removing tires for repair.
• Assist Master Maintenance Mechanic as needed.
• Perform data entry on all services performed.
• Operate mobile equipment as needed.
• Deliver technical advice to Ready Mix Truck Drivers and other mobile equipment operators.
• Maintain parts inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of lock out/tag out procedure required during certain procedures.
• Make service calls at other plants or emergency roadside repairs as needed.
• Communicate and direct coworkers through hand signals and two-way radio.
• Assist with training co-workers as needed.
• Perform general clean-up of work areas.
• Follow safety policies and procedures as written.
Skills
• Basic welding skills.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 100 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
• Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
• Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
• Ability to use vibration tools.
• Ability to perform work white lying on back for prolonged periods of time and in some cases, cramped quarters.
• Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
Work hours
• 40 hours per week and overtime on an as needed basis. You will work an alternating day/evening schedule.
